  5. *** What's New in WinZip 6.2 ***
  6.  
  7. WinZip now lets you open and extract UUencoded, XXencoded, BinHex,
  8. and MIME files (base64, plain/text, or quoted-printable).  These
  9. files can be opened via the File/Open dialog or via drag and drop.
  10. The Actions->UUencode menu entry makes it easy to encode archives.

  12. The new "Favorite" toolbar button and the File->Favorite Zip
  13. Folders menu entry lists all Zip files in your favorite folders by
  14. date for easy access.
  15.  
  16. Zip encryption no longer requires external programs.
  17.  
  18. There are miscellaneous minor changes, for example, the Options->
  19. Password dialog box now has a "mask" option; if you open an
  20. executable file that is recognized format, WinZip now offers to
  21. run the file, and if you double click on a SETUP program in an
  22. archive, WinZip acts as though you clicked the "Install" toolbar
  23. button.  A new large toolbar is available if your video
  24. configuration supports more than 256 colors.

  26. This version also fixes a few problems, including:  Explorer
  27. context menus were not shown in many Windows NT 4.0
  28. configurations; WinZip was improperly disabling the "Multiple Disk
  29. Spanning" combo box under certain circumstances; and the message
  30. "Caution:  your specified Multiple Disk Spanning option will
  31. remove all files on target drive.  Continue?" is now displayed
  32. when using the disk spanning add-on, just as it is when the add-on
  33. is not used.  The default spanning option is now always set to "No
  34. Spanning" when a Zip is opened.

  36. *** What's New in WinZip 6.1 ***

  38. The main new feature in WinZip 6.1 is the WinZip Wizard, an
  39. easy-to-use way to unzip and to install software distributed in
  40. Zip files using the standardized and familiar "wizard" interface.
  41. The WinZip Wizard interface is not targeted at experienced users,
  42. but is ideal for the rapidly growing number of PC users getting
  43. started on the Internet.  When these users gain confidence or want
  44. to use more advanced zipping features, the full WinZip Classic
  45. interface is just a click away.

  47. WinZip Wizard features include:
  48.  
  49. * Fast access to Zip files you have downloaded:  no need to use
  50.   the Explorer or File Manager to hunt for the files you
  51.   downloaded.  The Wizard lists the Zip files in your "Favorite
  52.   Folders" by date, with the most recent files first, so you can
  53.   quickly access the files you just downloaded.  A search feature
  54.   will find any Zip files "lost" on your hard drive.

  56. * Automatic installation of software distributed in Zip files:  if
  57.   a Zip file contains a "setup" or "install" program, the Wizard
  58.   will unzip the files, run the installation program, and clean up
  59.   temporary files.

  62.   unzip your file and display the results in the Explorer, so you
  63.   can start working with the new files right away.

  69. Both the WinZip Classic and Wizard interfaces are included in all
  70. versions of WinZip.  One click switches from the Wizard to the
  71. Classic interface and vice versa.

  74.   little about Zip files as possible and just "get started" with
  75.   the files you downloaded.  The wizard lets you click the "Next"
  76.   button a few times, and presto, your files are unzipped and/or
  77.   installed.  When you want to use more advanced zipping features,
  78.   you can easily switch to Classic mode.

  81.   integration with the Windows 95 shell and versatile drag and
